If you are new to the sport of rowing or if you would like to brush up on your skills, the Learn to Scull program is for you!
If you are not familiar with the sport of rowing, sweep rowing is with one oar in BOTH hands; whereas, sculling is one oar in EACH hand. Learn to Row Sweep Classes are group classes. Learn to Scull Classes are available as either small group classes or private lessons.
This class is designed for beginners who have no sculling experience. The intro lesson will teach you the basics of the rowing stroke, boat handling, etiquette, and equipment knowledge. The three additional lessons, conducted either in small groups or as private lessons, will give you the chance to practice your new skills under the direction of a skilled instructor.
This class is designed for those who have already had an introduction to sculling, either through our 4-lesson 'Learn to Scull Level 1' or some equivalent experience. Classes consist of 9 sessions over 3 weeks.
Students will have the opportunity to further develop their sculling skills working with experienced instructors. Instruction will consist of time working with an instructor on the water in single and double sculls, as well as on rowing machines to further build a foundation in sculling technique, safety, equipment handling and conditioning. This class is designed to prepare you to become a self-sufficient sculler.
Once you have completed our Learn to Scull class, or if you’d simply like to brush up on your skills, consider registering for a private lesson. Each hour long lesson is taught by one of our knowledgeable club scullers and allow for an intense one-on-one instruction session.
