Essentials of Sea Kayaking

Offered on most Saturdays and Sundays through the end of August.
Classes will run from 8:00 am – Noon. Afternoon sessions will be scheduled as needed. See the events calendar for specific dates. This class is designed for beginners with minimal or no sea kayaking experience. It will also be helpful for less experienced sea kayakers who want a refresher course. It will cover basic stroke technique, safely entering and exiting a sea kayak (including exiting upon capsize), self and assisted rescues as well as safety issues on the water. All participants should come prepared to get wet. Wet suits will be provided.

This class is required for new members before they are allowed to take out boats. (This class may be waived by the paddling director for experienced sea kayakers who can demonstrate competent paddling skills including wet exits, self rescues and assisted rescues.)



Forward Stroke Clinic


This class is for advanced beginners and intermediate paddlers who want to improve their stroke technique. This is not specifically designed for competitiver paddlers, but more for touring and recreational paddlers

Private Instruction

Private instruction is availabe for advanced beginners and intermediate paddlers who want private instruction.
Cost: $40 per hour for up to two students. Minimum 2 hr instruction ($80).
Arrange for private instruction by contacting the paddling director.
