Lincoln Park Boat Club Watercraft Storage Privileges:
Rack space for watercraft in the Lincoln Park Boat Club (LPBC) boat house is limited and in high demand. The LPBC board has approved the policy that only watercraft that are used regularly throughout the entire season are awarded access to rack space in the LPBC boat house. This means that the boat must be rowed/paddled from March/April – October/November as least 2 times per week average. If a member has more than one watercraft in the boat house, each watercraft has to meet the requirement individually. If you cannot meet this requirement, then a space is not an option for you. At the end of each month, the log books will be evaluated to see if the requirements were met. If they were not met, the watercraft owner will be asked to remove their watercraft from the boat house. The LPBC is not a place to store watercrafts that are not actively rowed/paddled.
Watercraft Insurance:
The LPBC by-laws state in Section 8.6 Insurance that “any member who stores a watercraft in the LPBC Boat House is required to carry his/her own insurance.” The definition of a watercraft from the LPBC perspective is anything that the member is storing in the boat house that floats and allows an individual to maneuver on water, i.e. scull, kayak, surf ski, paddle board, etc. The LPBC requires that every member, who is storing a watercraft, must provide proof of liability insurance.
If you do not wish to obtain insurance for damage to your watercraft, that is your decision. Each member who stores a privately owned watercraft in the boat house must provide a copy of their insurance policy indicating liability coverage. A copy of the policy will be kept with the House Director records, will be enforced and must be renewed annually to store watercraft in the LPBC boat house. If a member chooses not to get liability insurance and/or provide a copy of the insurance policy, the member will be given notice to remove his/her boat from the LPBC property within 21 days.
